    Product Details

Hailing from the Acanthaceae family, Staurogyne sp. Brown is one of the most popular aquarium plants. Although the genes Staurogyne have multiple varieties of aquarium plants, this particular specie is known for its typical green and broad leaves that eventually turn brown under submerged conditions. While some aquarists prefer plating it as a mid-ground plant, it can also be used as a foreground plant due to its small growing habit. When the plant is provided with enough nutrients and high light, the leaves start turning brownish, clearly explaining why it is named so.

Appearance: Staurogyne sp. Brown is a stem plant with green and round leaves. When the plant is grown in submerged conditions, the color of the leaves starts turning brown to cognac. It makes the tank look unique and the plant different from other aquarium plants. It is suitable for both- mid-ground and foreground settings. Basically, it is an interesting ground-covering plant with a bit of creeping growing habits. But to make it appear like a bush, regular pruning or trimming is a must. It ensures that the stem will not creep but form a bushy shape.

Hard/soft plant: Staurogyne sp. Brown is a hardy plant that can survive well in diverse water conditions. However, under a suitable range of temperature and pH, the plant exhibits stunning growth and color.

Ideal water temperature: The most suitable temperature range for Staurogyne sp. Brown is from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. While it is beneficial for the plant to get a suitable water temperature for good growth, it can strive well under diverse conditions as well.

Lightening conditions: The leaves of Staurogyne sp. Brown remain green when low to medium light conditions are provided to them; however, under submerged and high light conditions, the leaves start turning brown, typical of its nature. It makes the plant center of attention.

Ideal pH level: The suitable pH range for Staurogyne sp. Brown is between 5 and 7.

Propagation: The plant can be propagated through stem cutting. All one need is to cut the stalk, preferably near the emerging stem, and plant it on the substrate. The roots will start coming out, and the cutting will establish as a new plant.

Do you know: Every species of Staurogyne is easy to care for and maintain. They are least demanding and can flourish in low nutrients, low light, and low carbon dioxide.

They are least demanding and can flourish in low nutrients, low light, and low carbon dioxide.Cryptocoryne Tropica is a form of the popular cryptocoryne, Crypt Wendtii. This popular Crypt will display long, green/orange/bronze crinkled leaves when grown submerged. Photos show difference between submerged and emersed grown plants. Like other Crypts, it grows at a moderate rate and can be grown both submerged and emerged. Care is simple for cryptocoryne and is comparable to other low-light aquatic plant species such as Anubias, Bucephalandra and more. Crypts propagate through runners, which can be cut and replanted into the substrate if desired. For good coverage, plant individual stems about one inch apart. Water trumpets can also be planted in bunches as long as all the roots have exposure to nutrients from the substrate. Notes:
    • Potted aquarium plants are kept submerged and are adapted to aquarium settings.
    • Cryptocoryne prefer not to be moved once planted. If possible, do not move them!
    • Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
    • Please be sure to remove this plant from its pot. Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into a quality substrate.
    • CO2 injection and quality aquarium soil will yield better growth.
    • Unless noted, our aquarium plants are adapted to aquarium settings and will do best submerged. If this is not your goal, please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.

You will get a packet is fully sealed without oxygen and it is safe to travel long distances for 5-7 days.    Aquarium plant from tissue culture in closed cup. This miniature version of the well-known Alternanthera is characterized by compact growth and a slower growth rate. It is particularly suitable for small aquariums or as a foreground plant in larger aquascapes. By careful trimming, it is possible to create a dense, red violet carpet of approximately 5 to 10 cm height. High light intensity and addition of CO2 improves the plants growth and overall appearance.

Anubias Nana is one of the most popular aquatic plants in the hobby. If you're new to planted tanks and want to try growing for the first time, this is a good one to start with. It's an extremely easy plant to grow and can survive a wide range of water parameters. Like other Anubias plants, it can grow in both aquariums and terrariums either submerged or emersed. Anubias Nana is a flowering plant that grows best when the rhizome is attached to a hard surface such as wood or stones. They have low to medium light requirements and can benefit from regular fertilization. CO2 is not necessary but can promote faster growth and more robust leaves. Since its a slow grower, the leaves are susceptible to algae growth if placed under high lighting. Propagation is easy and straightforward; simply cut or pull apart rhizomes to be replanted. Notes:
    • Anubias are strong plants that can thrive in a variety of environments.
    • These epiphytes can be planted above the substrate or attached to hardscape.
    • Burying the rhizome, will cause the plant to melt and die.
    • Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
    • Please be sure to remove this plant from its pot.
    • CO2 injection and quality aquarium soil will yield better growth.
    • Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.

Ammania Sp. Bonsai: (scientific name: Rotala indica) Overview: Native to Southeast Asia, Ammania Sp.Bonsai is a fairly undemanding aquatic plant and is a great addition to aquascape, especially in nano - aquariums. Ideally, this plant is great as a mid-ground plant in freshwater aquariums, but when planted in groups, it can be grown specifically to form a dense carpet or bush. Appearance: Ammania sp Bonsai is an upright herb with soft stems that can attain a height of 60 cm. The leaves are green on top and pinkish red in the bottom and are arranged in opposite whorls along the stem. The leaves are approximately 3 cm long, oblong or oval in shape with thick cartilaginous margins. The plant bears tiny pink flowers that have 4 petals each. Hard/Soft plant: Soft plant Ideal water temperature conditions: Ammania Sp Bonsai grows well in waters having temperatures between 22 and 27 degree Celsius. Lighting conditions: Ammania Sp Bonsai prefers moderate to high lighting intensity and at least 3 to 5 gallon per gallon by full spectrum (5000 to 7000K) bulbs. The red tip of the stems is due to high lighting intensity, which adds color and vibrancy to aquariums. Otherwise, the stems become compact when exposed to low intensity. Ideal pH conditions: Ammania Sp Bonsai thrives in good quality water with pH levels between 6.0 and 7.5. Functions and advantages: 1) When bushy, Ammania Sp Bonsai is a great place to hide for fry and smaller fishes. 2) Versatile plant in aqua scaping and works well with both midground as well as dense carpet-like scaping. 3) Can grow in immersed condition also. Did you know? Ammania sp Bonsai propagates easily and can be facilitated by cutting off a part of the top stem and re-planting it in substrate soon after which roots start developing from the first node.
