Aquarium Soil is a complete bottom layer, which can be used without any other types of bottom layer
The grain size of 2-3 mm makes it easy for planting
Aquarium Soil ensures proper growth and stimulates red colours
    How to use the product
Aquarium Soil ensures good and active growth from the beginning, and boosts the red plant shades.

It is a complete substrate, which can be used without any other types of bottom layer.

Aquarium Soil is further an active bottom layer that lowers the pH value and slightly affects the water chemistry.
We recommend that you change 25-50% of the water min. twice a week during the first 4 weeks after establishing the aquarium.

How do I calculate the quantity of Soil or Soil Powder needed for my tank?

Measure your tank’s length and width in cm, for example 90 x 60 cm.
Consider the thickness of the bottom layer you want, e.g. 8 cm.
Make the layer thicker towards the rear wall for a great visual effect!
The calculation to do is length x width x layer divided by 1000.
    In our example, 90 x 60 x 8/1000 = 43,2 L Soil/Soil Powder needed.

    • Rapid nitrifying bacterial colonisation is made possible by the porous structure.
    • Assists in maintaining a pH that is neutral to slightly acidic, which is appropriate for the majority of plants, tropical fish, and shrimp kept in planted aquariums.
    • gives young shrimp a place to hide from predators until they are big enough to come out.
    • When natural driftwood is present, won't cause water to turn green and aids in preventing organic discoloration.
Use in freshwater aquariums only   What quantity should I use?
    • 45 cm (17.72 in) = 1x 4 kg Fluval Stratum bag

    AquaForest Lava Soil

AquaForest Lava Soil 5L  is a natural substrate based on volcanic lava, which is enriched with essential minerals for plant growth. When used, it slowly releases the substances contained within it, feeding the plants. Key Features:
    • Natural and does not cause any side effects
    • Rich in minerals
    • Size of the granules varies from 1 to 8 mm
    • Natural soil based on volcanic lava, enriched with essential minerals for plants
    Cautions:
    • Recommend that you carefully dispense other fertilizers for the first six months after being added. AquaForest Lava Soil 5L will help to control an over accumulation of micro-nutrients
    How To Use:
    • Sprinkle a 7 cm layer of AquaForest Lava Soil 5L over the tank base. Cover the substrate with water, and plant. Once planted, fill the aquarium to the top with water

    ADA POWER SAND ADVANCE

Power Sand Advance is the follow up product of Power Sand Special and is a base substrate material designed for providing nutrients to the roots of aquatic plants and promoting growth of substrate bacteria. Porous volcanic stones secure the water circulation, and organic nutrients promote the growths of bacteria. Please select right size, S, M, L according to the depth of aquarium tank. A new substrate has a good circulation of water which carries oxygen to stimulate bacterial activity and the development of plant roots. This is the ideal condition of substrate, in order to establish a balanced ecosystem. After some time, however, various factors may cause problems in the substrate. Some time after setup, water pressure or calcium in the water hardens the substrate. At this time, water circulation within the substrate is obstructed and bacterial activity declines. Such a condition causes problems in root development and growth of aquatic plants. Although problems would not appear at early stages, a substrate with only one kind of granule does not provide enough water circulation down to the bottom In a short time. Waste matters from plants and plant roots block the space between granules and obstruct the water circulation. The mixed substrate with Power Sand at the bottom secures good water circulation due to the shape and size of the granules. Even when aquatic plants have been growing for long periods and waste matter accumulates, Power Sand composed of porous volcanic stones maintains proper water circulation. The growth of aqua plants like Echinodorus or Cryptocoryne, plants that absorb nutrients from its root, largely depends upon the amount of nutrients within the substrate. Unlike ordinary Power Sand, Power Sand Special provides more minerals and nutrients to the substrate, as it also contains Bacter 100 and Clear Super. FEATURES
    • Size S for tanks up to 40 cm in height
    • Size M for tanks from 40 to 60 cm in height
    • Size L for tanks above 60 cm in height
    • Very rich in nutrients
    • Contains Bacter 100, Clear Super and Tourmaline BC for the optimal start of your aquascape
    • Sufficient supply of oxygen is vital for aerobic bacteria. Insufficient oxygen prompts the activity of anaerobic bacteria which produce toxic substances such as nitrous acid
    • Organic matter in Power Sand or other bottom fertilizers such as Multi Bottom or Iron Bottom, can be absorbed by aquatic plants, only when they are broken down to inorganic matter by bacteria
    • Silt gathers around plant roots and provides a good medium for bacterial colonization. Proper functions of bacteria, through their nitrifying processes, change ammonia to nitrogen compounds which are then consumed by aquatic plants through their roots
    • Works effectively to stimulate the establishment of association between bacteria and aquatic plants
    • Nutrients contained in Power Sand are slowly dissolved and absorbed by plant roots

    AQUAFOREST NATURAL SUBSTRATE | 10L

Nutrient rich, peat & clay based substrate base for aquascapes & planted aquariums. AQUAFOREST Natural Substrate is a nutrient rich, peat and clay based substrate base for aquascapes and planted aquariums. Readily available micronutrients and plant food within it create a fertile, nature-like environment, ideal for long-time plant support and growth. AF Natural Substrate is well suited for the development of a healthy root system, and to help aquatic plants thrive. The peat and clay natural Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) will also absorb any excess nutrients from the water, and either make them available through the roots, or release them back into the water once it becomes depleted. Features and benefits: The carefully selected peat creates excellent conditions for the root system, and supplies plants with all the necessary minerals and trace elements. Clay improves the texture, and acts as the base, achieving excellent consistency. Similarly to peat – clay acts as a natural layer for storing excess nutrients, and maintaining biological balance in the tank. Micronutrient contents have been supplemented under laboratory supervision to make sure that aquatic plants have an abundance of trace elements, while the chemical balance of the tank stays in check. WARNING: AF Natural Substrate is rich in micro-nutrients, so for the first three months Aquaforest do not recommend the use of fertilizers containing micro-nutrients, unless the plants show visible signs of deficiency. HOW TO USE:
    • Spread the substrate on the bottom of the tank and compact it to achieve approx. 2-2.5 cm thick layer.
    • Cover with about 3cm of gravel or sand.
    • Gently fill aquarium with about 15 cm of water. In order to avoid disturbing the substrate, we suggest placing a plate or dish on the bottom, and directing the stream of water on to it.
    • Place the plants in the substrate.
    • Fill the aquarium with water.
10 L of AF Natural Substrate should be sufficient for a 200 L aquarium with a 100 cm x 40 cm bottom. Substrate can lower and stabilize the pH of the water, therefore it is recommended to use a dedicated test or probe.
