It absorbs nutrients and makes them readily available to plant roots. A thin layer of beneath your gravel bed ensures healthy and long-term plant growth. Plant Growth Substrate is completely neutral, and will not affect the pH or KH of its host aquarium.Shrimp Strata and Fluval Plant Fluval Stratum, obtained from the mineral-rich slopes of Mount Aso Volcano in Japan, is a perfect substitute substrate for planted aquariums and those with shrimp. promotes healthy plant development by allowing roots to quickly spread out and penetrate substrate to access essential nutrients.
    • Rapid nitrifying bacterial colonisation is made possible by the porous structure.
    • Assists in maintaining a pH that is neutral to slightly acidic, which is appropriate for the majority of plants, tropical fish, and shrimp kept in planted aquariums.
    • gives young shrimp a place to hide from predators until they are big enough to come out.
    • When natural driftwood is present, won't cause water to turn green and aids in preventing organic discoloration.
Use in freshwater aquariums only   What quantity should I use?
    • 45 cm (17.72 in) = 1x 4 kg Fluval Stratum bag
ADA Super 4 Aquarium Additive is now called Super Pour. The pack contains ADA substrate additives in individual packets. It is recommended to sprinkle the ADA Super 4 on a glass base before filling anything in order to promote the work of microorganisms and enhance the inefficiency of soil or decorative sand. As the substrate cannot make a fresh start right after the setup, it is important to prepare the substrate in a nearly perfect condition at the time of the initial aquarium setup. ADA Super 4 (Substrate Additives) To promote the work of microorganisms, it is advised to sprinkle the following under the soil Bacter 100 Has more than 100 kinds of substrate bacteria in a dormant state. Sprinkling on the base substrate can make an ideal substrate environment. It can suppress the growth of green algae. (By applying a bit of it to the affected portion) Clear Super A substrate additive made from activated carbon and organic acid. Clear Super helps the growth of micro organisms. Sprinkling on the base substrate, promotes the growth of micro organisms in the substrate and stabilizes the environment. Tourmaline BC Has fine bamboo charcoal, giving it the ability to absorb organic pollutant substances. Add some over the substrate during the initial set-up and it will help to improve the substrate environment. Features
    • Improves biological filtration and increases water clarity.
    • Suppress the growth of green algae
    • Contains more than 100 kinds of substrate bacteria
    • Helps the growth of micro organisms
    • Absorb organic pollutant substances
    • Prevents the substrate from becoming anaerobic
Note: *Do not mix in water as written on the package. *Do not use in marine  aquariums.

    AQUAFOREST NATURAL SUBSTRATE | 10L

Nutrient rich, peat & clay based substrate base for aquascapes & planted aquariums. AQUAFOREST Natural Substrate is a nutrient rich, peat and clay based substrate base for aquascapes and planted aquariums. Readily available micronutrients and plant food within it create a fertile, nature-like environment, ideal for long-time plant support and growth. AF Natural Substrate is well suited for the development of a healthy root system, and to help aquatic plants thrive. The peat and clay natural Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) will also absorb any excess nutrients from the water, and either make them available through the roots, or release them back into the water once it becomes depleted. Features and benefits: The carefully selected peat creates excellent conditions for the root system, and supplies plants with all the necessary minerals and trace elements. Clay improves the texture, and acts as the base, achieving excellent consistency. Similarly to peat – clay acts as a natural layer for storing excess nutrients, and maintaining biological balance in the tank. Micronutrient contents have been supplemented under laboratory supervision to make sure that aquatic plants have an abundance of trace elements, while the chemical balance of the tank stays in check. WARNING: AF Natural Substrate is rich in micro-nutrients, so for the first three months Aquaforest do not recommend the use of fertilizers containing micro-nutrients, unless the plants show visible signs of deficiency. HOW TO USE:
    • Spread the substrate on the bottom of the tank and compact it to achieve approx. 2-2.5 cm thick layer.
    • Cover with about 3cm of gravel or sand.
    • Gently fill aquarium with about 15 cm of water. In order to avoid disturbing the substrate, we suggest placing a plate or dish on the bottom, and directing the stream of water on to it.
    • Place the plants in the substrate.
    • Fill the aquarium with water.
10 L of AF Natural Substrate should be sufficient for a 200 L aquarium with a 100 cm x 40 cm bottom. Substrate can lower and stabilize the pH of the water, therefore it is recommended to use a dedicated test or probe.

    • 60 cm (23.62 in) = 1x 8 kg Fluval Stratum bag
    • 100 % natural black soil
    • Helps to lower the hardness level of the water
    • High humic and nutrient content
    • Nutrient situation even better with the Amazonia supplement
For ADA's Soil Amazonia Ver.2 100% natural black soil is used as raw material. It is perfect for creating an underwater landscape that is very close to the South American rainforest. It offers a high humic and nutrient content and is also suitable for harder tap water. A high pH value of the soil substrate makes it difficult for aquatic plants to absorb nutrients. Substrates from the Aqua Soil series reduce the hardness of the water and lower the pH to a level where most aquatic plants can absorb the nutrients they need for thriving. The enclosed Amazonia Supplement improves the nutrient situation of the soil even further, so that the plants have particularly excellent growth conditions at their disposal. The Aqua Soil granules retain their shape and density under water for a long time, thus ensuring the circulation of water and oxygen through the substrate. The Aqua Soil substrate makes it easier to care for difficult-to-cultivate plants such as Tonina or Syngonanthus. It is also ideal for aquarium inhabitants who prefer soft water, such as Apistogramma and various species of dwarf shrimp. The Amazonia Supplement is supplied in a special bag; 50 ml for the 9 litre version and 16 ml for the 3 litre version. The Soil can also be used without the supplement, and then behaves like the Aqua Soil - Amazonia II, which does not cause turbid water.

    Features

    • Substrate is obtained from natural soil through a special process
    • High humic and nutrient content
    • Contains less nitrogen compared to ADA Aqua Soil Amazonia
    • Less cloudy water during initial set-up period (without supplement)
    • Nutrient situation even better with the Amazonia Supplement
    • Helps to lower the hardness level of the water
    • Reduction of the pH-value to 5.5 - 6.5, the optimal range for plants
    • Facilitates the absorption of nutrients by plants
